SUNDAY RUNDAY
Sunday Runday
In August 2022, about twenty members and ten trainers gathered at Yangjaecheon. We wanted to train with the members we met in one-on-one sessions outside the studio too. A gathering that began with the thought 'if no one comes, we trainers will run on our own' is now a run club where 70 to 100 people run together every month.
Who runs with us
You don't have to be a PAFGYM member. The run club is open to everyone, including members' families, friends and acquaintances.
It's fine if you've never run before. The most popular group is the 3 km group for first-time runners. There are no times or rankings, and trainers run and walk in with everyone to the end so no one is left behind.
Kids and families come too. From elementary-school members to members in their 70s, there are families running side by side every month. In May, the month of family, we have held it as a running picnic with family and friends.
If you'd like to join, contact PAFGYM's official Instagram (@pafgym_official) or call 02-575-7051. Anniversary runs take separate advance reservations.
How a Sunday morning goes
- On the third Sunday of each month, we gather at the Dogok branch around 7:45 a.m. to warm up.
- We walk to Yangjaecheon together in single file and warm up once more.
- Choose your distance from 3, 4 or 5 km (some days we also open a 6 km group). A pacer trainer leads each group from the front and back.
- We alternate between the Yangjae and Daechi directions, turn at the halfway point and return to the start. After the last hill, the runners who finished first welcome you with applause.
- We finish with the coffee you ordered before the start, a cool-down and group photos. The whole thing takes less than an hour.
Our shared rules
Yangjaecheon is a path shared by many people. So we run in single file, quietly, without shouting. We still run in light rain, and if weather cancels a run we let you know around 6:30 a.m. We take August off every year because of the heat.
Birthdays every year
On the run club's birthday, every participant gets a commemorative T-shirt. From 75 runners at the first birthday, we grew to about 180 at the second, over 200 at the third, and about 240 ran together at the fourth in September 2026. We usually held the birthday in August, but this year we moved it to September to avoid the heat.
Brands such as Amino Vital, Kleannara and Cetaphil joined our birthday runs and prepared gifts for every participant. The words we heard most at the fourth birthday were “I ran because of you.”
